The 'Wright' Incredibles

As you can see it was dress up time in the Wright house hold. There was controversy in what to where as each organisation had a theme. For example RS = skittle colours, EQ = Where's Wally, Primary = Disney. I thought I came under primary as that was my calling at the time. It was quite cool how we decided to go all out and it all came from google "blonde disney characters'. You guessed it Dash appeared and that when the excitement began. I need to say thanks heaps to mum she brought me the red pants and motivated me to go hard or go home haha. It was a church activity and the real star was Joshie. I thought he pulled it off brilliantly. As you can see it didn't take long for him to rub it off. Gracie was also super cute being tinkerbell. Jessie through her creative flair designed the logos in no time and off we went. Just another day in the Wrightee Bunch...

Gracie Rocks!

I feel a little bad that all my facebook posts and blogs about Gracie are negative - tongue in cheek- but negative. Truth is while Gracie requires a LOT of attention and a LOT of patience, she is super awesome and kind and clever and entertaining and it doesn't end there.

Below are some of Gracie's stories her Kindy teachers have written for her portfolio. I didn't take great photos, (if you really want to read them I will take some and repost) but I just wanted to give you a sample of how they put her portfolio together.

Almost every single story in that portfolio talks about Gracie's determination, persistence and her 'can do' attitude. I'm so excited that I have all these moments documented. There was a whole story written for her when a ball came over the fence from the neighbouring primary school, she wouldn't give up until she got that ball back over, she refused all help but kept her frustration at bay.
What an awesome story for such a small moment that would otherwise have been missed if it wasn't for Gracie's teachers.
Her frustration sometimes gets the better of her and she can be a little (hugely) irrational but she THRIVES on the praise she receives for completing the task.
She takes after her father, Haydn rarely gives up when he really wants to achieve something, and he LOVES it when I tell him how awesome he is.
I am excited to see where these traits take Gracie in the future and I am very proud of her.
I need to work on the 'giving praise' part as it's what keeps her going until she finally achieves what she set out to do. I find it really hard to give praise and I won't go into why I find it hard, but I'm working on it.
I love Gracie and I am glad she chose me to be her Mum.

P.S. Gracie has only been at kindy for two terms and her portfolio is almost FULL, we are so blessed to have enrolled her at such an awesome kindy and so blessed that all her teachers are so passionate and great at their jobs. Here is their website if you wanna check it out www.albanykindy.wordpress.com

Just for Giggles

Strike a pose....

....this ride is way fun....

......ooh, a little fast but I'm still smiling......

........if I just hold on I'll stay alive.......

.......alright, wheres the bucket?

Incase anybody didn't believe me.......

....here's the evidence. I have lost control of Gracie. I can't even BEGIN to understand how to parent this child. Thanks to Kristin's talk last Sunday that I was fortunate enough to read, I will be spending a lot of time on my knees begging Heavenly Father to help me know how to raise this girl. I don't know that I'm even 100% he knows either. I imagine him standing there, chuckling, saying "good luck!"
He better have a special place saved for me when I get up there if I manage to get this girl through life without being put in prison.

Masacara......

...everywhere.

Notice the 'Albany Kindy' printed in HUGE letters on the side of her pants?
Yup, third change at kindy in 1 hour. She looks like a prison inmate.

Same day as Mascara day, I also found the brown pen on the walls and wasn't feeling amused enough to take a photo this time.

Which brings us to today......day AFTER mascara day and no less eventful.

Ahhh...Finally playing nicely....

Nek minnut she steals Joshie's orange rolling pin because she doesn't want the red one. (Note I didn't actually realize what Gracie had done while I was taking this photo) FLIPS out because I take it back...........

........takes herself to time out because she knows if I can't communicate with her she needs to get out of my face. I'm pretty impressed by how quickly she calms down. I go to chat with her and find her in my room, under my bed, unwrapping all my tampons from my handbag.
The End.

Kelly Tarlton's Adventure

We got this entertainment book and it has heaps of deals in it. One of the was Kelly Tarlton's. I was pretty stoked that is was cheaper than normal so we went along for the day. It was really entertaining and much better than last time I went.
First up was the penguins and the kids loved them. Joshie just stood at the window and watched them swim for ages. We stuck around for the feeding and the kids loved it
Gracie also loved it and was amazed at all the underwater animals. Her Favourite was seeing all the Nemo Fish. We lost the kids on a few occasions and Joshie would be found just staring at the fish.
There was some pretty crazy fish and we ended up staying for most of the day and had lunch there.
They had a whole tank dedicated to all the nemo fish it was pretty cool and Gracie was buzzing hard out.
The kids couldn't last for the shark feeding so we put them in the car and I went back to take some picture for them.
I made a little video about the shark feeding, its pretty cheese but I couldn't upload 1 so I just mashed them all together. It was a really good day. Well it was more of a visual blog, Enjoy!

Houston, we have lift off!

We got a new dryer the other day and it came with a massive box.  I thought to myself "I'm gonna make something for the kids". Weeks went by and nothing haha. Until we started playing rocket ships with the toy baskets. It gave me the idea to make a rocket ship. Now it doesn't really look like one but we had to improvise. My favourite picture is Gracie balancing the sticky tape (3rd one) haha.

It gave them house of play time which was great. It's still up in the living room so they can have endless time on it. I really love my kids and it's great to spend this much time with them.
Last week of the school holidays. Have been loving it so far. Love my family heaps.

Wright's at the Movies

Well we planned out our holidays the other day and it was all botched from all of us being sick one of the last 4 days. Movies was on the list and we decided to go and watch Monsters University©. It was a pretty cool movie. Very entertaining for all ages.
The Kids stayed seated until the last 20mins so we were pretty happy with that. Although at a completely silent part Joshie stole Gracies drink bottle so she yelled out "Heyyy!" It was pretty crack up.
Thomas the tank engine has nothing to do with the movie. It was just a poster at the movies that the kids loved. I thought it was pretty cute anyways. Well, gotta love being a teacher.

Best Dad In the World Award!

Well, You could be thinking from the title "what is he on about now?" I must say I am pretty chuffed. Jessie emailed me a design and said can you make this? I thought 'yeah i'll give it a crack'. When I saw these pictures I thought 'I got this!'
As I started on the design I went into the Woodwork Room with high hopes. I let the teacher know my plans and they said 'use whatever you can find', so sure enough that was all I need to just help myself.  I pulled a piece of wood out that was big in size and cut and painted it.
I made this a class discussion asking the kids what they thought about the ramp. There is a 90º angle, a triangle always adds up to 180º, at what angle should the ramp be so it doesn't smash at the bottom but flows right off. The kids were hard out into it. Every fitness session we would look at my design first to think about improvements and better design for my destroyer (Joshie).
As I was creating it students were so intrigued in asking me 'what is it?, who is it for? you're such a nice dad! It was honestly a time where the students watched and listened to exactly what I had to say and was doing. It's like they were in a trance with me explaining my errors, plans and success'.
With a coat of varnish and a few stickers this is the final product. I am truly happy with it and found joy in making it. It took me about a week and any living moment at school I was in that woodwork room making a toy for our boy. Lunch time, before school, after you name it I was there.
I am proud of this. It was therapeutic, exciting and can't wait to see Joshie's face when we give it to him. Oooooooh he is going to be so excited. I love my children and glad I didn't go to the warehouse and buy him something. Yes it could of been easier, and wouldn't of taken so long, but why would you change it? It might be destroyed, or even not played with much, but my philosophy is 'you always enjoy/love what you create!' It is definitely the case with this. Enjoy!
