'The Not So Happy Meal'

I went into work today to say goodbye and drop off my access keys etc, and we got a little bummed out, nobody was really around and if they were they were all busy. I was feeling a bit blah, Gracie was just being so good and quiet, and I didn't really want to go home and look at the same four walls again for the rest of the afternoon, so I decided we would go and find a MacDonalds with a playhouse and have a bit of a Mummy Daughter date.
Gracie had her first proper Happy Meal and only ate the chips (backfire lol) we were sitting right in the sun and Gracie was looking a little tired, she choked on a chip and I was helping her then BAM here it ALLLLLL comes, she had set the gagging reflex in motion. She emptied her entire stomach contents on her, my legs, the floor and the chair next to her. She hadn't been acting unwell so I just put it down to her being so hot in the sun (Me and my Brother throw up when we oevr heat) The thing I don't understand is, why it is that Mum's first reaction is to try and catch it with their hands, I mean seriously, are we really gonna catch it all by cupping our hands?
So I am sitting there in a daze with hands full of puke and I just have NO idea what to do, Gracie doesn't seem phased AT ALL and nobody seems to have noticed yet. I try and pour it all into one hand and I run over and get as many serviettes as I can. The cleaning lady was so nice and noticed I was struggling so came and helped me, I kept telling her I had it sorted and I didn't expect her to clean up my child's spew but she kept going and I was so grateful to her. I took all Gracie's clothes off, wiped her down with baby wipes and plonked her on the bench seat and me and the lady kept going. It all got cleaned up eventually (although not so hygienically I wanted to try and find the spray and wipe after and clean it up properly, maybe this kind of thing happens all the time and they don't really care, let's just say I don't really trust MacDonalds anymore) and when I turned round Gracie was standing there in her Nappy and nothing else dipping my chips into the sweet and sour sauce and loving life. That's when everybody started staring, I wanted to gesture with my hands that she had thrown up and that's why she was half naked but I thought that might put people off their food so I just got out the spare clothes and ignored them.
So much for a nice relaxing lunch with Gracie, I had promised her (not that she understands) that I would take her to the playground, so after she finished my chips off we went. She couldn't play on ANYTHING it was all way too old for her and we had to leave, BAD PLAN MUMMY so all in all I'm not really feeling much better about this day. Poor Gracie. Poor Mummy.

Gracie's 1st Birthday!

Ok so being pregnant and sick makes blogging a not so pleasant experience, hence why I am blogging about this three months late. I couldn't WAIT for Gracie to turn 1 I
was so excited to get all her presents set up for her, like my Mum used to on our birthdays. Deep down I KNEW she wouldn't have a clue what was going on and Haydn was being a bit of a pooh and wouldn't get excited with me, he didn't even come and watch her open her presents! Pppppfffffttttttt his loss, she LOVED it, maybe because I put all the presents INSIDE the new tent, kids always get excited for new things, so thankfully I wasn't disappointed. Here are some photos of her on her actual birthday.

These were all her gifts from us, her favourite was the alphabet puzzle

Her cousin Syke turned 4 the day before so here is them blowing out their candles
(don't the cake, I SUCK at cakes and didn't think this one through)

Mum got them both a pinata to hit open

Happy as Larry

Her favourite present

She was happy cos I was happy, she had no idea what was going on

We had her party one week before her birthday, it was a 'Tea Party' so I made cupcakes and finger food, her cake was a giant cupcake! (the food and cake were a bit of a failure actually, I'm hoping I get better) I put up a photo board of all our favourite photos from the last year and we had music, drawing, playing and trampolining. The only person who couldn't come was one of Gracie's best buddies Ashton, his Mummy had to be polkadot Carly for the day for a birthday party in Remuera :(
It went well and things were starting to wrap up and people were getting ready to leave when HELLO who comes running down the drive?............ The POLKADOTS!!!! woooo hooooooo turns out they had a little lunch break after rehearsals before heading down to the party and decided to drop in to have a little cake. They performed a few songs and sang Gracie Happy Birthday. What a COOL surprise, I think I got a little over excited and me and my other wannabe polkadot friend Melissa got to perform ' Activate' with them. It was so much fun, thanks Polkadots coming to see Gracie and thanks wealthy people in Remuera who got them all dressed up and in the party mood in the first place!
Her are some photos of party day.

Grace went and found a little quiet spot in the Garden while Mummy ran around like a headless chicken inside

The cake tasted good, even though it was half the size it was meant to be

Gracie and the Polkadots

Grease lightning Go Grease lightning !!!

Our school disco was coming up and I was pretty excited.  I'm sure the kids were excited too, but its cool to see the kids outside the classroom.  Anywho a fellow mate goes "So all the guys are going as grease lightning" I was thinking thanks mate, the disco is 4 hours away.  So he said "Just muster something up" so muster I did.  I thought I looked cool.  I did have a thought they other day that scared me though "are my clothes to hip for me and people will think I'm trying to be a hip old guy?" Like when do your clothes start to become "Dad clothes" ya know.   OK point of the blog was the photos... Enjoy
