Charlotte Grace

Me and my friend Desiree were having our first playdate one day, and we soon realized we both had similar interests and dreams. We both expressed how exciting it would be to open a market stall and sell our stuff, not really for the money but mainly just to satisfy our craftiness and also to have the satisfaction of setting up a stall and making it look AWESOME!
Well...........we did it, and here I am to blog about it.

We booked out a spot for four weeks in the month of March at the very popular Takapuna Night Markets.
The atmosphere was awesome and we sold cushions, boshie monsters (soft toys), hair accessories and various framed printables, ALL hand made.
Our first two weeks we were in a spot a little way off the main road, but we still did really well thanks to our friends and families who came to support us.
For our third and fourth week we were lucky enough to be moved to the main road and it was SOOOO great, we LOVED being in the heart of it all and being as we had exhausted our family and friends wallets, being at the front meant we could make more money from the walk ins.

Don't you think our stall looked SO beautiful?!

It was damn hard work and we both had a couple of all nighters (more Dez than me though, lol), and I had some amazing friends who came and did my hair accessories with me for a WHOLE DAY!
I had a LOT going on in those four weeks, The Nakayas were here, there was a family wedding, Joshie cut his eye open and every member of my family came down with the flu including me. It was really tough but really fun too (minus Joshie and the flu).
Me and Dez set up a facebook page ( www.facebook.com/charlottegrace.nz ) so that we could sell our stuff in the future and we will have our next set of stuff ready to go very soon.
Seeing people buy our product was so rewarding, you never think something you have made is that great but everyone loved our stuff and it was so nice to hear those compliments.
Me and Dez often laugh about how crazy and stressful that month was but we knew if we hadn't done it then, we never would have. It was really important for me to have a goal to work towards that had nothing to do with any member of my family but me! LOL sounds selfish, but I was having a hard year trying to work out all my post natal depression stuff and this really made me feel like I was worth something. I'm so glad that Dez was up for it, I learnt so much from her whilst doing it and gained a great friend. Mates and money don't always mix but me a Dez were on the same page the WHOLE time and it was a pleasure working with her.

Your stall did look awesome and I wish I could have visited! Well done Jess (and Dez) - and good on you for doing something that you enjoy that doesn't involve kids/cooking/cleaning! ; ) xx

YAY for you!!!! Gorgeous stuff! I wish I could pop over and buy stuff! Never apologize for taking time for yourself! A happy momma is a good momma!

I'm with Melissa though-- I like to craft stuff, but pressure and deadlines and customers make me want to curl up fetal in the corner. Plus, I don't think I could sell my stuff for enough to even make it worth my time.

BUT I'm glad you did!!!
