Thought I would give it a try

Well this is a trailer of Christmas day and a little more footage.  We had a really good time and went to church for a hour, then opened up presents were Gracie showed some excitement.  But we did learn not to open up food gifts first cos it was way hard to get her to open up anymore pressies.  We had a real nice brunch that Jessie made and then headed over to Jessie parents house.  There we opened up a few more gifts and really enjoyed spending time with them.  With this new movie trailer possibility I might have to start taking more video footage, cos I think I like it.

The end of the tradition...

So after all the hard work this is how the end of the Snowman turned out.  Though I would make a movie of it.  Hope you enjoy.

Possibly the new Christmas tradition.

As Jessie and I embarked on this journey, I found joy and satisfaction in working as a team.  These words are not expressed everyday but when we watched the amazing race some competitors were us to a T, if ya know what I mean.  However, this couldn't have worked out any better.  As I created the Paper Mache and glued it all together Jessie made the finishing touches which I couldn't do to a standard like hers.  Like seriously who would of thought of making a scarf like that or even that top hat?  Anyways looking it him now the 5 days was worth it.  Will we make it into a tradition? I don't know.  But this much I do know, this snowman is flaming amazing.  I have been playing around with Picasa a lot hence why the 3 versions.  Please vote for your favourite.  I hope the kids enjoy smashing him up as much as Jessie and I found making it.

In the beginning...

With your child there is normally 'first' that you pay a lot more attention too.  For example, The first time you see them, maybe the first bath, you could even be excited to see that first Vegemite poo.  What ever excites you I have a collection here for you to enjoy.

What do you do in your spare time?

Well Jessie got something in the mail and was like "Here Haydn make this with Gracie".  So I am like 'ummm ok'.  Turns out she wasn't really serious at all, but the thought had been planted.  So I started on it and I started to realise this isn't something you do with Gracie, only because she was braking it at every opportunity.  However, the obsession couldn't be stopped and I was oblivious to the world around me.  I even got jabs like 'what the heck are you doing your a weirdo', but in my head I was like 'can a weirdo make this!!!' Haha  Anyways It was made I felt accomplished somewhat because there was little to no instructions.  Who knows where is it now I think Jessie has the last laugh there, but it was quite fun.  I don't support caltex an in way, I can't even remember the last time I went there.  It took me a good solid hour and thought I better take a picture to remember the construction of a Gracie's first petrol station

School's out for Summer

Well I made it through my first year of teaching.  It has been fun and testing at times but I love it.  It brings satisfaction.  I wake up and really want to go to work. I must admit sometimes they drive me nuts but its worth it.  I am teaching at the same school next year so I am stoked just a different year level.  I have had an amazing class.  I seriously think that I had the best class in the whole school.  It was sorta stink that I couldn't be with some of them next year but it has been great to be able to teach them this year.  We did really well at touch and beat some Y8 classes.  We went hard in volleyball and took no prisoners.  We even thrashed a class at Ghostball and came back from 2-1 down to win.  I hope that I have some what influenced them for the better and motivated them to do well in the future.  Coming up the the holidays I have been thinking what the heck am I gonna do with all this time.  But then I realised that I had my head in the sand and that Joshua, Gracie & Jessie are my holidays.  Super excited to spend time with them.  I thought I would blog just to record my achievement this year and just to say I did it.

3 years Crickey

Now you must be thinking some what along the lines of “2 blogs posts in 2 days this is just mayhem” but I will try and be to the point.  It was our 3 year anniversary the other day.  Jessie commented on facebook along the lines of “Happy 3rd Anniversary Haydn Wright three years today and 18 months of that I have been pregnant and moody, I don't know how you put up with me! I love you!!!! Xx”.  I thought to myself “Shucks that’s awesome!”  So let me tell you about the day.

We went out for dinner at Nandos.  Now just for those people that love spicy but haven’t had it in a while, don’t try and be hard and have hot nandos chicken  (I was sweating like a madman and it was quite unpleasant at stages).  After that we thought we would go and get some ice cream.  I think it has been a tradition of ours to get Movenpick ice cream so we did.  As you can most likely tell these first 2 events are just minor details in the awesome story that is about to follow.

We got this cheap deal where it was $14 for a game of bowling each and 10 tokens for Video Games.  Now the bowling was over quite quickly mainly because of my excitement to play some video games.  We played a basketball game where you got tokens at the end of it.  We got 8 for making 42 baskets in minute.  We thought we were we choice.  We went to look what we could get for 8 tokens and all we could get was 1 lollie.  I thought “boy talk about getting your hopes up”.  We ventured on and played a ‘Deal or No Deal’ where you could get 100 tokens.  I was just doing straight No deal for everything.  There where 2 cases left 2 tokens or 70 tokens.  The bank offered us 36 tokens.  Jessie said “Lets take the deal”.  I quickly slammed down No Deal, and next thing 70 tokens were coming out.

We started to look and see what we could get and things started to get more interesting.  There were fluffy toys for 200, games for 100.  We eyed out a Kung Fu Panda toy for 200 tokens.  Now for those that don’t already know I have a talent with those claw machines.  I know when it’s the right time to go for it.  Weeks previous I took Gracie out for the day and came back with a fluffy toy, which amazed Jessie.  So our money tokens were getting thin.  There was a machine that you could win 100 tokens if you picked up the cup.  Sure enough first try, picked up the cup 100 tokens were ours.  We ended up getting the last few token all so we could get Gracie a Cuddly Kung Fu Panda Toy.

Point was it was a fantastic night.  I think I even got the comment “Best Anniversary ever!).  I could be wrong but to my memory the last 2 were either not planned or really budget Lol.  Even though I drive Jessie nuts I do love her.  She is like the best Mum I know, she is kind and caring, loves Gracie to bits, and does things, which makes me happy.  Love you heaps babe and can’t wait to grow old with you.

He's my father's, brother's, uncle's cousin's, Mum's Step Sister

So I thought to myself 'Well it's a Sunday lets have a look at the new.familysearch.org website.  I knew My mum had done a lot but when I was finished with it all I couldn't believe it.  I just had to keep on going so...

It starts of with my Family.  Mum and Dad, grandparents and great grandparents.

As this picture shows it just didn't stop it kept going and going.  Sorta like an energizer battery, or if you can remember its like eating a pixi caramel.  Jessie said it looks like a sword.  It would of been massive but I got sick of clicking the next arrow on everyone, so I just wanted to see how far it would go.  On the far left its me and to the far right it gets interesting.
As I kept going I saw Noah, Enoch but this was the icing in the cake.  When I got to Adam and saw the next arrow I got excited.  To see it right in front of you is pretty choice.  I thought I better count it too.  I am 83 generation descendant of Heavenly Father, that makes Gracie 84 (the year I was born).  I know I am a child of God but this is just straight up awesome.
Hope this motivates you somewhat.  Enjoy

Marrieds Vs Single

Last year my brother in-law set up a tradition that all the men in the stake would have a rugby game.  He made it YSA VS Married.  Now last year we got a bit of a scare at the start but comfortably won in the end and these pictures were from that game.  However yesterday was not the same story.  The YSA came out firing and scored the first points.  We knew they meant business.  We were winning at one stage 17-19 but that YSA just kept firing.  The were up at one stage by 10 points with 10mins.  I used my motivation from the relentless cleaning that I had done that week and put it in my playing ability.  We were about 5 meters from the try line they ball starts to be passed my way.  One person receives it and draws in a man then passes to me.  I weigh up my options and print for the corner.  After doing a spectacular dive I put the ball down that brings us 5 points down.  I called it the 'motivational try', because it gave everyone the belief we could win it.  So by this time the time is winding down, we are exhausted and we are about 20m away from the try line, and we make a break and score the winning try and make it a draw, it was all up to the final kick.  We gave the responsibility to our bishop who was leaving to kick the winning goal, we knew time was up and before he kicked it we wanted us all to start cheering.  As we started the chant he boots it right between the posts and wins us the game.  We put the win down to our mental toughness because of the experience marriage brings and also to our wives for giving us our pass for the afternoon.  It was a game to be remembered.

Rugby World Cup Champions!

Well, that was one of the most intense games I have seen in awhile.  It was an awesome moment watching them grind it out for the last 5mins to beat the french.  I  don't want to say much but it was a proud moment of mine.  Proud to be a New Zealand and proud of the boys who won the cup.  Here are some pictures of the Parade.

No your Dad is a clown!

Let me tell you a story.  As a family we decided to go down and see all the RWC activities down at the water front in Auckland City.  We came across a balloon maker and Jessie insisted I lined up to get one for Gracie.  I waited patiently until it was my turn and asked the girl "So did you have to go to school to learn this or watch youtube?"  She said "a DVD actually".  I responded "Was it hard?" She replied "nah quite easy".  I thought to myself "hold up a second, I have the potential to be the coolest Dad on the block?"  So I did it.  Mum got me Balloons and off I went.  Now Gracie got a flower so I thought I would start there.  Then I thought to myself "Ohhh a Sword would be cool".  Then I got the comment "Oh you will never be a real Balloonist until you can make a dog".  I said to myself "I'll show you a Balloonist!"  So there ya have it.  I am really happy with myself to be honest.  I can hear the stories now "So what does you daddy do Gracie?"  "He can create anything you want out a Balloon"  "Wow can I be your friend cos your Daddy is the coolest Dad I know".  Even when its her Birthday I'll be making Balloons like there is no tomorrow.
